When I was painting this view I was very much attracted to the serenety of this place. The disappearing pebbles magnetically attracted my attention. I actually wish that I would have given more space in the foreground to show more pebbles.
The wharf itself was a work of art. What attracted me to this view was that the whole wharf looked like it was floating in the air. There were almost no straight lines and all the decay made colors such as grey-greens, blues and rusty-reds even more complex and interesting to paint.
Another major aspect of this painting was texture. Smooth water in contrasts to weathered wood and moss, Supported by the pebbles dissolving into the depth of the water.
