This drawing of a black Labrador was in preparation for a commissioned oil painting. Since the client was in Finland I had to based my drawing on a photograph. I wanted to work with the variations of the black coat that enhances the muscles underneath. I hoped to captured the look that dogs give to their owners of their loyalty and companionship.
