Alpine Haven

After completing a couple of smaller studies in horizontal formats of this view, I decided I liked the subject enough to explore it a bit larger and in a square format. It was quite the composition challenge, but I was happy with the result. And the whole thing was basically an artist's playground for light, shadow and edges! The location is an area called Dutchman Flat, which is opposite Mt. Bachelor just outside Bend, OR, and is always a great spot for wintertime plein air studies.
