The piece depicts a figure, which represents the idea that we are not always solidified as individuals, the feeling that we are fragmented with shifting parts dictating our self-perception and behaviours. I am a firm believer that identities are fluid and malleable, different sides of our personalities can be performative depending on a near-infinite list of environmental factors. Issues involving self-image such as body dysmorphia and struggles with gender/sexual identification can result in transformation and feeling like a different person on certain days, the first drawing “Twisted” focuses on this particular idea.
