The entire landscape of this painting was done "en plein air", on my property! I sketched where the women and geese would go, then drove my van down my dirt drive about 200 feet from this landscape. It was oil on linen, and exciting, since the hours it took to paint, the sun continued to shift to the right, giving me an exciting venture in painting!
I then returned to the studio, and created my "Women in White" with the addition of some geese. I love using the color white, in many of my figurative paintings. Why? To prove that "white" IS a color! Why? Because it reflects ALL THE COLORS that surround it! The women were friends whom I hired to spend a summer afternoon with me, out in the country, just sauntering around, forgetting about me, allowing me to capture those special moments, when figure and light embrace one another! The geese...a wonderful play of shapes, and MORE color!!!
