Solitude and Sunshine

This scene I painted from a photograph of a place near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Minnesota. My husband and I frequently rent a cabin here and we were out canoeing and fishing for the day. The day was perfect--warm sunshine and good fishing, the air fragrant with pines and balsams--and no mosquitos! With this scene, I really tried to capture that feeling of light and color bouncing around the evergreens. I wanted to put the viewer into the painting to experience the warm sun, the fragrance and the peace and quiet of the wilderness. I hope you feel it too. It's my best painting.
